Digitizing Church Archival Material
The House of God, one of America's oldest Holiness denominations, has a rich and storied history deeply rooted in the Black Church tradition. As a center dedicated to Black Church Preservation, we recognize the importance of safeguarding this legacy for future generations. To honor our past and ensure that our history remains accessible, we are taking an active step to create a comprehensive archive of all our church records.
This ambitious project will involve the meticulous collection, organization, and digital storage of invaluable documents that chronicle the journey of our denomination. Among these records are the Presiding Elder Books, which provide insights into the leadership and spiritual guidance of our elders over the years. We will also archive the General Assembly Notes, capturing the deliberations and decisions that have shaped our denomination's direction and growth. Additionally, State Assembly Records, both historic and modern, will be preserved, offering a wealth of knowledge about the regional developments and contributions to the broader church community.
By digitizing these materials, we aim to make our rich heritage accessible to a wider audience, ensuring that researchers, scholars, and members of our denomination can explore and learn from our history. This archive will serve as a vital resource, not only preserving our past but also inspiring future generations to continue the legacy of faith, resilience, and commitment that defines the House of God.
Through this initiative, we are not only preserving records but also celebrating the enduring impact of the Black Church on American religious life. The House of God’s archive will be a testament to the strength and significance of our denomination, ensuring that our story continues to be told and cherished for years to come.
